Abbey began dancing when she was 2 ½ years old and has loved it ever since. She began her training in Ballet and Jazz. When she joined competitive dance at the age of 9, she started training in other disciplines including Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Pointe, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre and Acro. She has competed both in Canada and the United States and has won multiple special awards and scholarships throughout her dance career. Over the years, she has had several amazing training opportunities. She has worked with famous dancers and choreographers such as Teddy Forance, Mindy Conto and Mike Glenney. Abbey is currently studying at York University. She is a student of the Dance Program as well as the Concurrent Education Program. She is working towards her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Education with a minor in French. In her third year, she plans on auditioning for the Teacher Training Program with Canada’s National Ballet School, in hopes of attaining her Dance Teacher’s Training Certification. Abbey’s passion for dance as well as her love for working with young children drove her to pursue a teaching career in dance. She hopes to facilitate her own dance studio one day.

Abbey has been an integral part of the Extreme Dance Connection family since she joined the team in 2014. She stays engaged and keeps herself involved with the team, especially with the younger generation of dancers. Abbey was a teacher’s assistant in numerous recreational and competitive classes for several years before more recently teaching her own recreational classes and summer camps. As a teacher, Abbey strives to facilitate a positive learning environment where all students feel welcome, included and celebrated for their individual strengths.

She looks forward to teaching summer camps this summer!
